Biography

Hendrik Müller is a versatile, German-born double bassist currently based in the Netherlands. Highly active across the European music scene, Hendrik seamlessly bridges the worlds of contemporary jazz, classical performance, and innovative crossover projects.

His strong academic background in jazz and classical music reflects his deep dedication to the instrument. In 2016 he graduated with a Master’s degree in Jazz Double Bass from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and in 2026 completed his Bachelor’s degree in Classical Double Bass at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen.

As a bandleader, Hendrik released his critically acclaimed debut album "Unlikely Scenario" with his own jazz trio in 2022 under the label JazzSick Records. Beyond his personal project, he is a highly sought-after sideman and collaborator. He is a long-standing member of the celebrated Daahoud Salim Quintet, a project that took his music across the Atlantic to perform at the world-renowned Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City.

Equally at home in large-scale symphonic settings and intimate ensembles, Hendrik has performed with well-known groups in the Netherlands, including the Metropole Orkest, the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble (NBE), and the dynamic Fuse ensemble.

In addition to performing, Hendrik is an experienced educator. In 2019, he taught jazz bass and combo lessons at the KJC Jazz Conservatorium in Kathmandu, Nepal and jazz combo lessons as a substitute at the University van Amsterdam and the Conservatorium in Zwolle. 

During covid times Hendrik dived into the craft of tuning pianos and received his diploma as certified piano tuner at the Hout- en MeubileringsCollege (HMC) in Amsterdam.
